Roma Street Parklands – Albert Street Walkway
City Parklands Transition Services
Brisbane City, Queensland, Australia
Hardworks & Softworks
$100K (est.)
O2 Landscape Architecture, in collaboration with City Parklands Transition Services, has prepared concepts & detailed design for Roma Street Parkland’s Albert Street Walkway. This involved temporary installations for the Parks Alive Festival and International Horticultural Congress.
The Albert Street Walkway is an unusual entry to one of the city’s premier parklands. It is wedged between the raw energy of the city’s built fabric (exaggerated by the sounds of Brisbane’s primary railway hub alongside it) and the serenity of open lawns, water elements and gardens within the parkland proper. The concept seeks to embrace and interpret this collision of contrasting spaces whilst also reflecting the site’s historical uses, such as its place for sourcing fresh produce.
