As the first stage of Minnippi Quarter nears completion, we revisit the key strategies which safeguard and enhance ‘amenity value’ at this new residential community in Brisbane’s inner eastern suburb of Carina.
The existing stand of mature trees at the north-east corner of the site and the adjacent Minnippi Parkland provide a natural setting and established amenity - a key objective is to seek and strengthen opportunities to connect to this amenity, thereby inspiring & encouraging an active & healthy community. They are also the catalyst for re-imagining open spaces as seamless extensions of residents private space.
In collaboration with Frasers Property, O2LA sought to embrace the existing mature trees and open space. The significance of this natural amenity is acknowledged through the landscape master planning of the circular/entry boulevard which:
> Wraps along the edge of the existing trees and main recreational facilities (including pavilion, 25m lap pool with infinity edge, gym, community dining and recreational terraces
> Provides physical and visual connections to the facilities and existing trees
> Anchors the existing significant Sydney Blue Gum as a prominent marker at the entry, befitting the ‘arrival’ experience at Minnippi Quarter
Beyond the site boundary, pedestrian and cycle connectivity to Minnippi Parkland and future cycle routes in the streetscape are strengthened via a safe refuge to cross Ellen Street and extension of the existing pathway network.
